It was done for spite of the attention Trump is getting from that nation and giving them the money they asked for. No so much for killing the General but the other. Thanks for your post.

No crime in life committed against innocence goes unpunished forever. Krama is truly the B. they say she is.

Hi Nomi... Yup, but nothing that anyone can do will ever bring them, or anyone that falls from the sky that way, back again... so I'm all for holding back on the retaliation! I'm one for staying off the planes too. Especially after hearing the other day that the airline that had all that guidance system trouble knew long before that those planes weren't safe! They knew it in the testing stages and they still did nothing to fix the systems. They have all these e-mails saying things like, "would you put your family on this plane?" "no" from company heads! I'll stay on my own continent. LOL

Smart move. I would love to travel to all the distant places in the world, but I can safely do that via video and books. I do not need to go boots in the ground for every place I find interesting.

Some interesting commentary on recent world events.

In line 3, no comma is needed after "souls."
In line 9, no comma is needed after "planes."

You seem to have couplets, except for the first line-it has no rhyming partner. Is that intentional?

"It is still tough" might be strengthened with more emotion--how many have suffered and how much. Just a suggestion.

Thank you Coco Jane. Any writer who feels or believes that his work is above critique is fooling himself to his own detriment. Thank you for the advice and review comments.

I agree with your poem. There is too much unneeded violence in this world of all kinds. Sorry is not enough. My question is can anyone not accidentally launch a missile? If they did hit the wrong target then they should not be using such weapons at all.

Hello, a wonderful tribute to a very sad and nasty event....of course they meant to do it... had it been filled with Americans they would have been cheering and bragging about their marksmanship

You are right. Thank God there were not any Americans on board that plane. If there had been, I very much fear that there would have been hell to pay, and I think that the Iranians knew that as well.

I think your take on the tragedy is spot on Nomi. I don't know if it was intentional or not but the results are the same. Many, many people lost this lives because of it and saying "sorry" doesn't change that fact.

Well done.
Blessings
Janet

My thoughts exactly! We may never know whether they meant to shoot that plane down or not. Doesn't matter why they did it the fact is they did it! All of those innocent lives taken for no reason. Agreed! I am not to be boarding any aircraft anytime soon. I always imagine those poor passengers realize something is wrong and know they are looking death in the face that very minute!

Yes, I will not be flying anywhere any time soon. Flying in America may be safer, but staying home is even safer.

In my opinion, a stunning write - relevant and frightening in its clarity of our times, well constructed and striking in presentation - rhyming rhythm is strong and purposefully delivered. Oh, those good old days...

Thank you my friend. I am afraid that the good old days may be gone forever. In their place is doubt and uncertainty, fear and trepidation, and finally distrust and outright failure.

I agree, and all we can do is hope for the best, while we each do our best to pay ethics and peace forward...Eve

This poem, Did They Mean It?, looks at the results of Iran's attempt to retaliate against others. They shot down a passenger plane filled with their own people, along with Canadians and Ukrainians. Flying is statistically safe, but not in a war zone. This tragedy shows the innocent paying for the sins of governments.

So well said. Good intentions or not, the guilty must not only admit their guilt, they should be willing to pay somehow and or some way.
