LOL! A fun offering for the contest transitioning from good intention of speaking well of January to, well, perhaps not so much! ;) I did have a bit of trouble trying to find a consistent rhythm, although your rhyme scheme of abab was easy to follow... :) :) A wonderful chuckle of how many of us feel about this cold beginning to the year - thanx for sharing that and best of luck in the contest! ;)
cold wind and snows --> cold, wind and snows [suggestion...?]

Thank you for your review and suggestion. I actually meant that the wind is cold. Could go either way, I suffer most from the cold wind which goes right through to my bones.

I thought so, which is why I wrote 'suggestion' out to the side... it seems to flow a bit better as two separate words rather than noun/adjective, but that's just an opinion... :) :) We're both hoping for Spring!! :)

This is such a bouncy poem that, in my mind,
echoes a conversation. You're imparting information with a little
irritation about January, then you bounce to other things, then get distracted, then talk about January and coming Spring. Much like a conversation with a friend! Love it!!

Hi and Happy New Year, Tina! Thank you for a nice, thoughtful review. At my age I am mastering the art of losing my place, then coming back around to it. This prompt gave me the opportunity to show off. Truthfully, just yesterday I was in the little barn and found myself gazing lovingly at some garden tools, so when I saw the prompt, I had the spark. Glad you liked it. Enjoy your Spring!

It was wonderful. Isn't it cool
how we get sparked to write
poetry
? Love this!

Indeed! Not that you need a pen pal, but I must respond. We who see or feel something when others might not notice, and then to have it lodge in us for inspiration, and then to have the love of words to relive the moment in a writing, we are indeed Blessed. We enjoy beautiful things many times over - even though some of us may bore those who must share our house. That's O.K. - we fanstory poets have a great support group! "Write you are!"
