Hi Rod. This is a beautifully written quatrain and combined with the image make for a great presentation all the way around. Best of luck in the contest with this fine entry. Marilyn

Thank you so much, Marilyn, for your kind praise of STRANGE NEW WORLD. I am in BC, Canada and was surprised, as was everyone else, by all the snow we got last week. Rod

I'm in central Wisconsin. We had our share of snow this week, too. Not much longer to go before spring. Hanging in there. Marilyn

You take the reader on a walk through a morning with new snow covering the ground.
Excellent use of enjambment, meter and end-rhyming. Your verse flows smoothly when read aloud.
My favorite line"
Inviting yet disquieting.
I think that captures the mood perfectly.

This is a lovely quatrain poem. You describe the winter scene so eloquently in perfect rhyme. A very good entry for the competition. Good luck and best wishes. Jen.

Hello Rod. I enjoyed this poem about snow, however, I don't enjoy snow. Living in NC, I can go to all the snow I want up into the mountains. I only go there during the summer because the mountain tops are air-conditioned.
I enjoyed the poem.

I remember when my daughter, hubby and grands were living in New York, we visited them in December near Christmas, from our southern summer. Boxing Day they received 16 inches of snow, leaving once naked cars, like miniature mountains lining the streets, we never get snow in our southern climes, so it was a novel experience. Well done, an excellent quatrain entry in this contest, rhymed in abcb rhyme, well done, good luck, blessings

I remember those days and reading your poem stirred me. It was usually a day of inside fun and baking with my children running around the house. Cabin fever, I believe is the term.
Sending you my best today as always, and best wishes for the contest with this fine poem.

This is such a true poem - and well written
- we're in that place right now. Winter finally arrived - it's so gorgeous - keeps my husband busy shoveling off an area for our small dog to do his business. Animals everywhere wanting more bird food.

I am delighted my poem describes what you are presently experiencing, Gail. I, too, felt it was glorious until?like your hubby?I had to shovel. Many thanks for sharing.

A beautifully rhymes poem with a good rhyming scheme and I enjoyed the sentiments here. The fourth line I would suggest (street) to be (streets). Love Dolly x
