That's so clever using the names of the part of the flute - which I didn't know until I read your notes. I love how you make it seem like the flute is instructing the player how to "blow into" her soul and bring the music of love in the room!

Well, Helen, you got me. :) I loved writing that poem. Of course I'm a poet and write from all parts of life. I wanted to "turn on" the reader by writing about the parts of a musical instrument. I think I succeeded. It was fun. ;) Thank you for reading and enjoying an innocent poem. That is the power we all have.

Okay, Jose, maybe it's just me, but this is quite the erotic offering of flute playing... I read your author notes and, still, I'm pretty sure you were going for more here than just the rising crescendo of the flute... if indeed a flute were the intention... :) :) I'm just here to tell you, if read from the correct perspective, the reader may need a cigarette there at the end.... :) :) :) Yvette

Yvette I wrote this at the moment and, yes it was meant to please. The flute is an erotic instrument that has the power, in the right hands, to set you spirit in a dream or stir your soul and make you scream. :) I'm glad you see and understand. :) I'm glad you liked it.

This so enjoyable to read, it was also very educational in that I have learned more about the beauty of music of the flute. I also think the picture you used was quite appropriate- an animal beauty presenting more beauty. Well done Jose.

Thank you Alie. It came out a little exotic, but it is music for the soul. Flute music is calming as well as very passionate. I'm glad you liked it. :)

You are so welcome Jose, I agree it is very calming, several of the elders and what I refer to as my sisters and brothers play a pan flute and it is calming.

This is really a romance poem. Many meanings and associations float in this piece. I like your analogy with the sea, and I could picture the flute being played, too.

What a wonderful idea to compare your love to the parts of a flute. Once it is all put together it is a complete instrument that play a beautiful tune. It's a great metaphor.

I enjoyed your club challenge poem, poetwatch. Your picture choice is great. Your words flow smoothly with super imagery. I could see the flute and hear the serene sounds of its notes. Your lines are formatted well, too. I like the personification of the flute. I like the lines 'like a pole vault dancer/ raise me high in the air/ and let our music fill the sky. Thanks for sharing. Respectfully, Jan

This picture has inspired you to write this free-write and your words made me smile as koala bear looks like he is playing the flute and you heard the music here, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Good job on this analogy poem. I totally got this, but the authors notes are helpful for others, good job there. I love the pole vault analogy! Raise me high in the air and let our music fill the air. There's several underlying meanings and it just makes this poem interesting. Great work!

I did! If my kids didn't
    polevault and I wasn't
    teaching myself to play
flute, I would still get it
    and like it!
    Keep writing the good stuff!

This play on sexual energy is apt and generally well-executed. I might suggest that you don't need to actually use the word climax - too obvious, perhaps, at least for me. Also, why is there a falling from "the foot"? Wouldn't from "the sky" be more consistent with the metaphor you set up earlier in the poem? I feel I might be missing something here, like a foot in music. Still, if that is so, why not build an earlier metaphor around a body instead of the sky? Then foot would make clever sense. I like how you kept it beautiful in tone and not crude. (There's lots of fluid involved in flute playing, I understand. :)

Thank you J.T. I changed climax to ending and took out falling but not the foot because that is what is called the bottom of the flute. Also named the parts of the flute. :) Thank you for reviewing.

I suspected as much about the term, foot. Thanks for educating me!
