Now, estory, I am not religious in any sense or form, but somehow I can follow what you're saying in this lovely free style poem. I actually liked it a lot and for some reason it makes sense to me that spring is the fulfillment of something devine. Whatever that means.Yes, I liked your poem a lot. Ulla:))

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your support of the poem. I wanted an upbeat feel to this, and I guess that's what resonated for you. This part was a little more structured into a couplet format but with more abstract rhyme, a little more subtle. estory

Hello estory, simple couplets but the meaning contained in them is complex and beautiful. Lovely personification of the Royal Iris - 'The royal purple iris forgets its sadness,' -
The long, lonely nights in the garden
And the cross on the hill of Jerusalem. ..... Lovely piece of work - warm regards Dorothy xx

Thanks for the excellent review and your wonderful comments supporting this poem. This is maybe the most religious of the four so far. I think this one is pretty much straight forward, but there is a blurring of the lines between spring and Easter here. estory

What a beautiful last part of your Spring Suite.
I must of missed the previous suites that you wrote.
This suite has a wonderful spiritual theme.

Thanks for the excellent review and your wonderful support of these poems. yes, part I was posted a few days ago, you can probably find it in my portfolio. February is the start of the book and I will be posting them in the order I laid them out in the book. But before I continue with Easter, I will be posting a couple of short stories from my new collection. estory

Your words are wonderfully sewn together to create a thing of beauty. Although you address death, the take away is the hope of newness! I didn't even notice you had no picture. Your words were enough!

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your wonderful words supporting this poem. This poem really speaks to the resurrection, and ties together the image of the resurrection of Christ with the spring image of the rejuvenating flower bulbs. estory

I love about Spring,
newness of life, resurrection!
Easter is my favorite
holiday!
Have a great weekend!

Such a lovely depiction of the Iris as they do seem to produce life from the jaws of death when that new bloom arises amidst the decrepit petals of last year's blossom... wonderful tie to the Spring of Easter! ;) Thanx for sharing! ;)

A very well-written final spring suite. Nature is a symbol of the spiritual so that we can understand the spiritual world. Although you have spring at Easter we having Autumn here.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and all your interesting comments on the poem. I think your explanation of the nature image is exactly what I was getting here. Good luck with those fires. So sorry you have to go through that. estory

This one has much stronger Christian overtones than the previous ones. Very clear theme. Lovely imagery, tone and pacing.
Favorite lines are the powerful first two:
Last year's sacrifice
Becomes this year's lilac.
Again, your finesse with phonics is superb. Love the assonance of E in the above.
Warmly,

Thanks so much for your excellent review and all your continued support of my poetry. you and I are on the same page, I think. It's all in the handling of the imagery, and the juggling of the musical and rhythmic aspects of the language. Sounds simple, but is it? Imagination is essential, I think, to the writer's repitoir. estory

Indeed, we do seem to share main tenets in what we value in poetry. Totally! Grateful for your presence here, my friend.

Aw, thanks. I'm not so active here anymore, but people keep sponsoring my membership, so I stay. I have not paid to be a member in six years...as long as people keep sponsoring (various people), I will at least visit intermittently!

You couldn't possibly separate Nature from Spirituality... not if you tried. God is everywhere. Not in buildings made of stone, but in our hearts. Wherever two or more are gathered in his name... I'm sure that they can gather around a campfire if they so desire. :) I do love the purple Iris... I also love the blue ones... those little skinny ones. So lovely :)

This is a very beautiful poem you have penned in couplets about the royal Iris and Christ. You used very good descriptive words and very lovely imagery from your words. Your notes were great also. Thank you so much for sharing it all with us! May God bless you! Teri
