A very well-written poem about the journeys we follow since childhood in the books we read. The fairytales have a great impact on our lives today and how we imagine our own stories.

The artwork you selected seems to be beckoning us into a fairytale, and I gladly entered. I enjoyed your rhythmic, rhymed quatrains as I experienced the adventures. Smiles- Joan

Hi Melissa! It's easy to see why you're the cream of the crop... way up there at the top! I love this poem!!! So many of my favorite childhood references are there. This was just so much fun to read, and I really love the picture you chose too, the perfect accompaniment. :)

You make my task extremely difficult, as much of your work is outstanding at the moment... and I have so few six stars, so I have to choose. I think this one is actually more interesting than the kiss, not better, just richer. So you'll just have to pretend I gave you another star. Sorry about that.

Hi Melissa. I like your poem about the fascinating stories and journeys we take in books. That's what it's all about. The image is really neat with the books being stepping stones to pleasure or knowledge or both. Very nice. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn. Thanks so much. I loved reading those classics and found it fun to fit them into this verse. Much appreciated, friend.

A definite 6 star poem! Maybe it is because I have been an avid reader since the age of 5. I could never live without the wonder and escapism of books. You had me at Hundred Acre Wood. Wonderful poem, perfect rhyming, great choice of books, and the perfect image to top it off. Thanks for this poem.

Did you ever read the Betsy Tacy, and Tib books?

Wonderful, Melissa!
Another children's poem for your upcoming book! :) :)
Fine rhythm and flow. Excellent examples of the children's classic poems.
If I may make a small suggestion, it would be to revisit the last stanza re: "little minds."
Perhaps:
each story leads their precious/beautiful minds
Just a thought!
(I'm feeling a bit better! Whew!) :)

Oh Diane... I am so glad to see that you are feeling better. Hopefully, the meds kicked in and whalloped that old flu!! I thank you for that suggestion... it is the second time I have gotten it today, so I am off to edit. Hugs!!

Oh! I am pleased my suggestion made sense!
I rounded the corner to health about 2:00 pm... after three naps and a night spent sleeping in my recliner in our family room! (Yvette is in the same boat, and she wrote to me such an hilarious response that I had a coughing jag for half an hour!)
On to 100% healthy!
Thank you for your friendship and caring!

How clever is this! You reference many childhood classics and end with a truth that I and others experienced. We went on magical journeys of imagination! Thus should go at the front of a book, in a collection. Wonderful!!
