This is excellent, Laura. It falls into the category of "less is more." So even way back when--there were poetic critics. Some things never seem to change. Best of luck in the contest. Marilyn

I think this is a good entry for the 5-7-5 Poem contest.
This short verse tells of poets and their critics.
Well done and I wish you luck with the contest.

I think it usually comes down to context and precision.
Doesn't matter the length of a word if it doesn't express the desired meaning. Just as it doesn't matter the age of the poet.
We're all only as valuable as the words we choose.
Peace, Lee

I like how you structured this poem. It makes sense in a message you've written. Excellent work! No grammatical errors. Good luck in the contest! Nice job.

This 5-7-5, Literal Irony, has the right set up and finds that the written chastisement for using long words contained longer words. Funny...........................

Very clever and informative poem! If you hadn't provided the explanation, I would have certainly looked up that word. I'm not sure who was more sesquipedalian: the young poets, or their critics; but I think it might have worked either way. Can a person be sesquipedalian, or only a word? Now my keyboard predictor knows it, too.

This is a "5-7-5 Contest Entry."
Although short I could not find any grammar issues and it flowed well.
The Adjective content was wonderful as well as that Objective.
Thanks,

This is a very good and a very informative 5-7-5 poem. I also love the script you used for your font, it seems to fit the time period. The quote by Robert Southey Is a great one, and adds quite a bit to the poem. We all know that usually less is more, and we all also know that we sometimes forget that when writing. Great poem. Good contest entry.

A very well-written 5-7-5 poem about using and sometimes misuse of long words can be very annoying when the reader has to look up each word to understand the meaning of the poet's poetry.

LOL! Amazing how things (words, gestures) start off in one respect and then take on a whole different meaning as time moves forward....? :) :) This is an awesome 5-7-5 that not only makes complete sense (and even fun of - lol!) but also teaches a new word to many! ;) :) Thanx for sharing and best of luck in the contest! :) Yvette
