This is a poem that points out some last-minute items of business to possibly take care of before the New Year arrives. Resolutions or goals are mentioned. There is personification in the second to last line 'eye' and a metaphor of the future being like a door or building with a door. Interesting double quatrain here. I think it is a cute art choice.

Everyone should do this. As I sometimes sit and feel sorry for myself for all the grief I have been through, going through old pictures made me see all the blessings I've had. God advice.

New Years resolutions are just that. No one ever pays much attention to them. They just like people think they can handle changing their ways.move forward,not looking back, make memories as time runs short.

This is a lovely poem, rich with advice for the new year. I like the idea of looking the new year right in the eye. The old-fashioned picture is perfect, and the words flow nicely in the poem. Rhymes well.
