Some people like getting money but I don't like giving it. It seems impersonal. Gift cards are the next best thing to money, if though is given to pick a loved shopping place.
Good luck and keep writing
Happy Holidays.

I?m a Barnes and Noble gift giver myself.

That's my favorite gift if it is not a book itself.

I have not heard of this expression before so I learned something here and I always give one of my daughter's money for Christmas because we never seem to get together to buy her a gift! I enjoyed your post, love Dolly x

Thanks Dolly, we have the same issue with our children spread across the US.

This is an interesting word that you have chosen, and well defined in your verse. It reminds me of the tradition of the British sovereign distributing maundy money as symbolic alms for the elderly on the Thursday before Easter.

I like your 7-9-7 poem and your use of the word salver. Your poem is meaningful and well-written and I enjoyed reading it. Your artwork choice goes well with your thoughts and thank you for providing your author notes.

Comment from Gloria ....
I don't believe I've ever heard the word present-silver before, at least not according to your definition, so well done.
A most interesting contest and what a great way to learn new words and especially those seasonal specific ones.
Excellent post and best of luck to you in the voting booth. :)

Hello Mystery writer. I learned two old words combined to make a single obscure word. I certainly had no idea of the meaning of the hyphenated word. One thing I did notice is there are lots of Mercury head dimes in the picture. I wouldn't mind having a few of those. Good luck in the contest.

You have made excellent use of all of your syllables in this creatively-
composed, charming piece. The alliteration serves as an appealing enhancement.

A very well-written Christmas obsure word 7-9-7. A gift of coins u not a bad idea. In today's economy every coin counts to get through the month without going to go to bed hungry.

"A Gift of Coins", is short, succinct and very much to the point. With craft and shill this talented poet has told it as it is. You KEEP WRITING and I'll KEEP READING. I look forward to seeing your next post.
