This is quite amusing. A nice old fashioned word that perfectly defines a very real modern action: Giving money instead of a gift. Maybe a modern update should be present-plastic?

Congratulations. You got me twice, I was not aware of Present-Silver, nor was I familiar with the word Salver. Now I know at least two terms that I was ignorant of before hand. Fanstory not only entertains its members with wonderful poetry, it also educates us with information that heretofore may not have been known to some of us.

Silver and/or gold are always terrific gifts for anyone to receive. (I'd even settle for past-silver if present-silver happened to not be readily available!) LOL

That is definitely not a word I have come across present-silver though I could actually use it this month for my 17 year old daughter would love some present-silver instead of presents on Christmas day. My 15 year old is still all about the presents though : ))
