MERRY CHRISTMAS Y.M. ROGER: You are so true. I agree with you. But my dear lady...let us agree that vertical blinds also curtail the outside's view of you. I have imagined that that's why the designer named them, "BLINDS." They curtail the peek-a-boo I see you view. Every coin has a flip side, Y.M. God bless you, my friend. Cordially: rhonnie69.

Great example of a modern synonym of an abstract concept (prejudice) made tangible with its comparison to blinds. I think this would be a great example to use with sixth grade students on up. Nice post with the photo, too.

You're probably right about the age group on this one.... might might a great 'discussion starter' of representation and imagery in English class! ;) :) Thanx for your review, ma'am -- take care! ;) Yvette

Yvette,
Your vertical blinds are a good metaphor for your prejudice and beauty linkage.
Your selected picture certainly enhances your overall presentation for this contest entry. Your black and white choice is a classic!

I see blinds, and I think of dusting them. Of course, they may be healthier than drapes. At least you can dust them. I apologize for the digression. Window treatment is a sore subject with me. I have none because my husband hates them. He hates all those lines. They block his view. We all have asthma and allergies so it's just as well.
I know that your words are about more than window treatment. But to me, that is what is personally important. Who knew?

I took a photo of that response, Yvette. I'm copying it and putting it on everyone's Christmas present. I'm not feeling all that vibrant. How nice!

I admired your "vertical blinds" analogy and lesson about "prejudice". Your succinct observation even includes alliteration to intensify the message. It deserves to go viral! Best wishes in the 5-7-5 contest- Joan

So glad you enjoyed this one, Joan -- seems the shorties are all I've time for right now ... but the light's at the end of the tunnel, yeah?!!! ;) :) Have a wonderful week! ;) Yvette

Good luck in the contest Yvette. This was indeed very interesting in the fact that you chose to write about vertical blinds rather than horizontal. Regardless of the blind choice, all kinds obscure the beauty that surrounds us. Well done.

Thanx so much for your wonderful review, Alie... I went with the vertical since folks seem to think that they do not impede the view at all when, indeed, they affect the 'connection' as our eyes scan the landscape... I was probably thinking too much again - LOL!! :) :) You know, it seems the shorties are all I've time for right now with MidTerms this coming week... but the light's at the end of the tunnel, yeah?!!! ;) :) Have a wonderful week! ;) Yvette

You are so welcome Yvette. Yessss there is light!!!

Wonderful poem! Simple words that flow, difficult to do with limited words and syllables. The image is beautiful and helps lend explanation to the poem. And as bigotry of any form deeply offends me, this poem really resonates with me. Beautiful work!

What a great analogy, oh yes, there things in our lives that do deter that natural "eye" for seeing things the way they were intended, God spoke to me about both earlier in the year, emotions with them, God has perfect sight in both. Excellent post Yvette, Well done, blessings,
