What an incredible picture to go with your wonderful 5-7-5 poem! I know you are right, those roots will not be swaying in the breeze like their branches up above. This was well thought out and an excellent contest entry. Good luck! )) Sandra xxx

What a beautifully written poem, and I love the picture. There's also a tree contest running, I thought this one was in it.
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

It is a given that tress which have reached the height and breadth of those pictured in your illustration, are so deeply rooted, it would probably take a very powerful earth quake to topple them. I also believe that it would take a very powerful and unbeatable fire to totally burn a tree of this dimension to the ground.

Living on the edge of a conservation area, I know this to be true. Thou shalt not move! Taproots go down deep. Sending you my best today as always, and my best wishes for the 575 Poetry Contest,
Sally :)

Sally, thank you! I remember visiting Costa Rica and was so very impressed with the dense forested "protected" lands. I appreciate your well wishes.

Yes, that's why some go down after floods, wet feet. A good 5-7-5 poem JLR, said with much conviction. Nicely done with the T alliteration in line one. Love the photo of the gorgeous beauty.
cheers.

The syllable count are absolutely right as per the requirement of the contest .The strength of the tap root -any firm foundation is the message .All the best for the contest.
