This is a most interesting thought, J. I suppose the water's surface could easily just appear as sky until those wonderful rain drops fall down. Also I didn't know trouts don't swim to the ocean until it rains. Neat.

I really like this and good luck to you with the Contest Committee. :)

This is a good entry for the lune contest. I didn't realize this about trout. You used the proper syllable count and this is well written. Great job and thank you for sharing.

Although obviously true, I never thought of that. (And neither do the confused trout, blindly spawning in brackish waters.)
I think your poem makes for
an excellent proverb. (Substitute your name in "Confucius says...")

Well written within its given Lune Poem 5/3/5 scheme structure and its fishing true narrative storylined content. A great job. Luck for the contest.

I enjoyed reading your contest entry, JLR. Great job with the syllable count per line. Your art choice is a nice pairing. I have one question--don't rivers and streams flow into the ocean? Thanks for sharing and best wishes. Respectfully, Jan

Thank you! A trout never swims down to the oceans, they always return to the spawning ground, upstream.

Excellent Lune poetry here, Jim. I learned something with this also. Thank you for your notes of explanation, my friend. I like the way you presented these facts in the poem also. Bless you and Happy Holidays. Bob

Hello JLR, a well written Lune with a clear message, supported by your interesting author notes. This poetry form is not easy and you have given us a clear message with only thirteen syllables. Good luck in the contest. Regards Dorothy

You obviously like trout fishing friend : )) You know I live by one of the greatest trout fishing lakes on the planet... Lake Taupo NZ, it is the biggest fresh water lake in the Southern hemisphere... 160km all the way round, it looks like an ocean : ))

Hitcher, yes I am an avid fly fisherman, my granddad taught me when I was a little guy and I?ve been fishing waters all over North America, among my favorite are in Edmonton, Canada where we fly in on float plane for a week. Lake Taupo is huge and I imagine can get pretty nasty in inclement weather, but I can sit here and imagine the awe striking beauty. Thanks for the snapshot.

I think this is a good entry for the LUne Poetry contest.
The idea that the rains turn ponds into oceans is fun.
Well done and good luck to you with the contest.
