Hi Christine. I guess that is the way we are headed here in the states, too. My plastic bags (which we still have here) do double duty because I use them for kitty litter bags, too. Once they outlaw bags, we'd better not forget to bring our own. Great job with this poem and congratulations on your semi-retirement. Marilyn

Hi Christine. I love retirement. It gives us the opportunity to do as much or as little as we want to do. In retirement, I'm busier than ever with things that interest me. In your case, you can do some work in your profession as well as dabbling in all those things you had to put off. Congrats. Marilyn

I like your poem with a humorous story that happens to most of us. When I was a kid we had paper grocery bags seems we have come full circle. Just wondering about verse 3 did you mean it to have a rhyme as I don't see one. Also verse four a small type o, around not spelled right. All the best, Laura

Hi Laura Thanks for your review and assistance with the o have fixed that now
Re verse three
There is a rhyme with cloth and wrath In australia we pronounce wrath as roth not rath so Maybe that is where it seems unrhymed if not let me know Cheers Christine and yes I remember paper bags and string bags too
-
Ok never new about roth english is really strange lol we in Canada use British spelling like honour but I just adapt to the american for here FS honor because the spell check is American lol
-
Hi Laura, Yes we spell honour with a our here also and it is difficult with different pronouniation in different countries Still that makes it interesting and at times I get caught out also LOL Cheers Christine

This is the story of my life. It is is a circumstance that, I am sure, nearly any adult can relate to. The title caught my eye. This was a well-written poem. The words flow well; and there is also just enough "bounce" in the reading to demonstrate a mix of humor with frustration. I enjoyed this.

One grocery store actually gave out stickers to place on the corner of your windshield that said "remember you bags." Great idea had I only remembered to look at it. I now find that if I drive with one of them slung over my shoulder, it does remind be to pick up the rest of them.

This is very amusing story about our cloth bags. I, too, always forget to bring them, and if I do bring them, I leave them in the car. Then I see all the plastic on the bottom of the ocean and have a momentary guilt attack, which doesn't last long enough to make me remember the next time. Your rhyming is very good and this is a very humorous, but true, poem. Good job!

This is a humorous but at the same time serious. I think all plastic bags
should be banned. Just give us paper bags. I like the line about wishing
you were an octopus to wrap your arms around all the goods.

What I don't understand is why the shops can't provide paper bags for free? This plastic ban is an excuse for these retailers to make extra money by selling plastic bags! I always take bags with me to the supermarket! My supermarket don't sell any plastic bags, only substantial material style bags, we need to look after the environment and not use plastic bags at all, I liked that you highlighted this here Christine, love Dolly x

Congratulations on your semi-retirement! What a great idea that you can still be called now and then to do work that you love but still have more free time.
Enjoyed your poem as we also had to get used to supplying our own bags which I should be cleaning after using but been using the same bags for five years!

This is a fun poem, I enjoyed reading it and could relate to it as I too have a car full of bags but often forget to take one into the supermarket. I don't think they actually make must profit on the bags. Take care. Jen

A very good poem on a very questionable subject. Having been in business in the past I know that the cost of an item includes the cost of the bags that are part of the expense in business. So when we now think we are helping the planet by paying for the bags they provide, guess what? It is an added profit for the stores.
