Thanks for sharing about the climate, environment (and smells!) of that place in Arizona. Is it anywhere near the White Mountains? I was just reading about the White Mountain Apache reservation.
You are such a hearty soul to deal with all that!
I enjoyed your story about your daughter's birth. (somehow it's in your portfolio twice and one wasn't the one I reviewed. I thought I entered into the Twilight Zone! I had reviewed it and voted for it!) Do you have more information about that in your portfolio?

Thanks Helen for reading and reviewing. I don't think it was near the White Mountain Apache reservation, but we did visit three while we were there. About my daughter's birth sometimes things will show up twice, I have no idea why, just the gremlins at work.

Funny how the land is cattle country even though there's not much green. And, my friend, you are not wrong about the chickens... it is gagging to get a strong wind of the HUGE chicken houses sprinkled throughout the area - we don't ever smell it in our little valley, but elsewhere can be dangerous for the stomach!! :) :) Thank you, thank you for the update from the Wild West Ranch, Alie -- be sure to post a pic or two for us!! ;) :) Yvette

Hi Alie. This is a well written chapter to your travels. Arizona can be beautiful, but also can be bleak. Maybe most places are that way--a mix of good and not so good. The desert is gorgeous, but not the snakes. Marilyn

This is very well penned and you certainly have a beautiful way of drawing the reader into your reality with you. I think you landed in happy spot since if you have clean facilities - you have everything LOL. Well done and thank you very much for sharing it.

Alie,

Another interesting portion of your travels. Even when you're staying put for a bit. hahahaha I really can't imagine moving around that much. I would go crazy without my family close by.

Some notes, if I may?
1.) Is this a continuation of the previous chapter? If it's not directly explained, I suggest sharing the name of the park again, and perhaps the location again. But if you've already just done so, forget that. *smile*

2.) Apparently, the land that the park is on(--)and from the (sound) of it(--) much more(,) was once owned by the actor(,) John Wayne.

3.) When he died it was made into realistic lots that were sold.
--> what do you mean by 'realistic'?

4.) we had a fairly constant rain but (it) did not cause flooding in the park.

5.) Now that the rain has stopped, I can get to be back to dirt, beige and brown.
--> edit for clarity?

6.) The office and general (store) have a good supply of

Thanks so much!

A somewhat daunting place from your description of it. Wherever they are most deserts have that yellow ochre look I think, even the ones with a regular rainy season.

I have a word order suggestion here that might make it read easier:

'He, from what I understand originally established the campground.'

The single pronoun subject of this sentence. seems somewhat detached. Might this be a neater solution?

'From what I understand, it was he who originally established the campground...'

This next is just a simple typo I think:

'The office and general story have a good supply...' -- I think you mean 'general store'.

Wow, your RV has a washer and dryer! Amazing what they do nowadays. Arizona is borrrring. Get out of there quick. Drive to the mountains and enjoy the fresh air and great views. Not to mention wildflowers galore (maybe not in winter tho). :)

Hi Sweetness, I have lived in places just as you describe. My first husband was a lazy sod who didn't believe in working too hard, so he would join the Railways as a fettler, line maintenance, and we would get sent from one dry, brown beige place to another. All of them had the required number of houses for the workers and NOTHING else, just wide open brown land as far as the eye could see. No electricity, no running water, just these identical houses. We lived like that for years. That brought back some not-so-nice memories, I sympathise fully. Love U Anne

This sounds like a great place to park for a couple days, aryr--except for the snakes. They can stay way far away form me out in the desert. With no light pollution, I imagine the sky at night is beautiful--when it's not raining. The info about JWayne was interesting. Thanks for sharing. Respectfully with Love, Jan
