You have a gift for writing in this genre. The descriptions are beautiful
and the slow increase in emotion is magically woven into the final:
"My dear one. Welcome home."
It seems everyone is anticipating the arrival of Piper.
The reunion with Rupert should be interesting as well.

I love these stories, it's the ultimate in escape reading to create another world, particularly one so beautifully described as this one, (which doesn't surprise, you've said many kindly things of my writing, I think we both wish the same things, an idyllic realm of love and grace) I love the mystery of an obviously hoped for return of Piper to the realm of faes. Such a lovely welcome home even though Piper hasn't been there before. I liked that you connected him already through music of his mother's song. I also liked the way you made Lynx chatter away like a typical young child. Now I guess we'll learn how Piper got separated from his family?

Thank you for the excellent rating and analysis of the chapter and the characters. I appreciate you catching that SPAG too. It seems no matter how many times I read it, I miss something.

The chapter telling of how Piper was separated from his parents was back a few so I'll just fill you in.
Redd-Leif and Melodica were traveling with two other people and were attacked. Their companions were killed. Melodica was hit by a poison arrow. To get her the antidote and save her life, Redd-Leif was forced to leave their infant son--Piper--with their friend Raymond Acker. Raymond's daughter had just given birth to a still born child and Piper was put in his place. His parents were unaware they were raising an elemental child--basically, a changeling. Only Raymond knew the truth. Piper's human parents died of the fever when Piper was nine and he went to live with his grandfather, Raymond Acker, at Castle Welf. As Grand Master of the Music Guild, Raymond raised Piper as a musician.
