This short poem, Single Red Poppy, uses thirteen words and reminds u# of that iconic flower so associated with our losses at war. I always feel th3 additional sense of needless loss.

Thanks for the review Bill. A famous Canadian hockey commentator was just fired for saying the immigrants showed disrespect to Canada by not wearing poppies. I believe that they just maybe do not realize the cultural significance of those single red flowers. Cheers.

Thanks for the review. In Canada a well known hockey commentator was fired because he said that immigrants in Canada disrespected the country by not wearing poppies to remember fallen soldiers. I thought maybe it was just not explained clearly enough to new comers to Canada.

The old expression, 'when in Rome do as the Romans do' was, like many ancient sayings, a wise one. A few words in the language of the host nation can go a long way as a sign of respect for what one has become part of.

Like day and night when I began using this greeting. I love to find the little special cultures wherever I go.

Thanks for the review. A Canadian hockey commentator just got fired for saying something like the new immigrants do not wear poppies,so they are not pro Canadian.
I was talking with my mom and we figure that they just haven't been informed on the cultural importance of wearing a poppy in November. Cheers.

Thanks for the review. A famous Canadian hockey commentator was fired for saying something like the immigrants don't respect Canada because they don't wear poppies.
My mom and I were talking and we figured maybe no one told them how important it is to all Canadians, old and new.
I told my mom I would write a poem about it.
