This is a lovely poem. All the joys of tomboyishness that the mother tries to cure her daughter of ("Mum thought that I was such a disgrace" and the dresses says it all). Then the whole of the childhood development is lost abruptly. I'm sure you would have willingly traded the tomboyishness to have her back - such a shame space limitations hampered you from expanding on that.
