Wow! You have a definite talent for looking at a picture and spinning a touching, entertaining story around it. Your poem is very skillfully-written
and conveys a strong theme.

Thanx so much for your review on my Red and Romeo, Janice. ;) :) Please know that your on-going support of my 'blonde musings' is always so very appreciated!! ;) Yvette
My apologies for running behind this week -- one of our science teachers had to take a leave of absence to care for her mom and I crazily volunteered to review/mark-up the physics & chemistry science project papers for her and meet with students as necessary....what was I thinking??! lol! I am now fully reminded why I ONLY teach mathematics -- I hardly have to think with pure numbers!! :) :)

Clever 'r' alliteration on Red and Romeo. 51 years looks about right for character's ages. Different angles on issues but inevitable reconciliation seems to be theme for a marriage that has promise. Nice post.

Hope things get smoother. Mathematics always meant longer homework time for me. English was the easier one.

Adorable! You really know these two. They've lived together for so long they know all the + and - traits of each other, and know there will be clashes followed by their favorite thing--making up. So sweet. :)

As a former math teacher, I can't imagine tackling a physics project! Chemistry, maybe, but I always found physics to be unreal. You're much braver than I could ever be! :)

LOL! Remember, Physics is my degree (math's my minor).... math is my 'fun' time!! ;) :) Yeah, she's a weird one..... :)

You see the artwork exactly as I do. You just manage to tell it in an entertaining way that I could never do. The grumpy old man clearly loves the lady. He can't bear to see her get wet, and she is grinning about that. They are just comfortable with each other. Like you said, arguments don't matter a whit. They know how to work it out.
This is a sweet write, Yvette.

Do you read the Southern Sisters series by Anne George? They are by far my favorite fun books. Anyway, the main character is an English teacher. After she retires, she volunteers as a Math teacher. She goes on and on about the easy life of those Math teachers. There is only one answer.
Anyway, it is good to hear from you. You are kind to help yor friend. I wish I could help you.

Hello Yvette. I like the poem a lot. It is a life story not about history but about the relationship between the two lovebirds. The story fits the snapshot in time. They'll be fine when it stops raining. Nice story in the poem. :)) (*_*) Z

Thank you for sharing your delightful interpretation of the curious Club's picture. I enjoyed your speaking in the conversational voice of "Romeo" and your rhymed quatrains. I can relate after forty-eight years of marriage! Big cheers- Joan

This is wonderful. The monologue of Romeo talking about their romantic relationship, and how they're fighting, and how he knows it will be back to normal for them, in a short while; seems so real and unforced. I love it. The flow; the choice of phrases and words; the creative rhymes; are all exceptional. I love how you use words like "cuz" and "cha" and "hellova". It adds a realistic flavor to the piece. I love rhymes such as, "while" and "reconcile" as well as "ask" and "mask" and "ride" and "bride". I love the reference to Kate Hepburn's character in "The Philadelphia Story", with your choice to call the woman in this story, "Red". The artwork and the title are well chosen for this poem. I guess I've said enough. It is obvious that I love this one. Thanks for digging into your creative heart, to write this, and to post it.
Take care, Jesse

    Hello Yvette.
I loved this piece and I'm glad you liked my review. It's funny, you are at ease with numbers and I have great difficulty with them. Maybe if I had a wonderful teacher like you, I would have learned mathematics properly. No worries about the late response. I know you are always good for a great reply when you find the time. Have a mint julip on me.
    Take care, Jesse

This is a heartwarming response to the picture of that feisty little couple. If you look closely, she has a twinkle in her eye. I think they like to play games with each other. lol

You described the situation of the picture well. It's obvious they did have a spat. But now you gave them nicknames and a background story and we know they'll work it out.

Yes, what an excellent poem in the picture prompt contest. Your poem is the prompt that brings my memories of my love, gone for five years. A common scene described very poignantly in rhyme. Well done.
