You could not keep me in the house after the family evening meal at 6pm. Live was lived outside, with your neighbors, friends from school, youth clubs, sports teams. it was fun, fun fun. The world has definitely changed and not for the better as far as I am concerned.It is hard to get ones children to leave their rooms, gaming consoles or phones... It is sad.
I enjoyed your walk through your youthful memories, it brought back a lot of mine : ))

Hitcher, I am to concerned about the anti social playing habits of children today. The workplace of tomorrow is going be very different, I believe, as a result.

I remember making up games to play. I lived on the desert with tons of open space to run around in. Lots of kids in my neighborhood. We played all these games and made lots of 'forts'. Those were the days. Kids today know nothing about it. Well done. Hope you do well in the contest. Rox

When I reflect back on those days, I realize that the kids that got into trouble and suffered for their misdeeds were rarely the same ones that joined us in play, they were the ones sneaking off to smoke, gamble or do things frowned upon by adults and authority figures. In other words they pretty much got a head start on criminality.

No I, isn?t that so true...those that got caught up with the pack of Camels or Pall Malls roll up in the t-shirt sleeves, the slicked back hair, the key chai dips hanging off there blue jeans. Where u grew up, the hood was close and no one was allowed inside the perimeter alone.

It's so very true, we did survive without all the gadgets. I think it's good to have a mobile, so we can reach the world if the need arises when we're out and about. But otherwise it has made people addictive. They can't be without the Internet, even when they're out on a date. How pathetic is that?

Ulla, technology p, like anything that has yin has a yang and I children today will suffer, I believe, from this addiction in ways we have yet to know, sad!

This is a good poetic recap of the toys a person who grew up in the 60s and 70's played. Maybe the 50s too, with the mention of Roy Rogers.

Yes, as a real Sally during this time, I played with all these things and enjoyed them so much. Barbie and Ken were my favorites along with records. I remembered our family rule: Be home by supper!

I did everything one of those things listed. That's when you had to use your imagination and not mindlessly press a button. This poem is wonderfully written and I love the picture!
