Hi there,
I too remember most of what you recall. What puzzles me is why did cease to embrace such innocence? Did we all really a larger Mr Potato Head and a slinky that went on forever, or at least to the Moon and back? - Lobber

This is a delightful poem, my friend. Those were the days. With all of our advancing technology, we have truly lost the simple joys of having fun~Debbie

This is so true. Without using their own creativity to amuse themselves and editing on others to create toys that amuse them - this generation will not know how to use their own faculties to overcome obstacles in life. They will just sit and ask Alexa to do it...

June, yes a sad commentary about the children today, what will the offspring expect from parents who no nothing about creating playtime awareness?

What a wonderful trip down memory lane your poem takes the reader on! I even remembered "Cootie." That plastic bug we put together. A delightful reading experience!!

Your poetry has a distinctive Style which reflects the child like Memories we all have and share. It speaks to a simpler time which is nice. I got a break from 2019. No cell phones no TVs no electronics. Children now seem to have lost the creation to play. Thank you for sharing this.

Your engaging poem brought back so many memories. We had such fun as kids but it was all simple stuff, often just using what was available or making things up. Thanks for sharing your memories with us.

In my opinion, I really appreciated the premise of this write and found its format and almost smooth verse striking, but for a couple of minor issues, such as the spacing beneath the concluding stanza, since I always spend extra time in formatting my works for final presentation...

You are concise and indeed a professional, which I declare not the case for myself. I am on a life long quest to improve, expand, and not focus on perfection because, as a human being doing what I love, I accept, I will never be perfect.

I really do not consider layout spacing a quest for perfection - really, now, JLR - it's a matter of thinking of the other person, in this case the reader, and the pleasure thereof - you disappointed me greatly by your response. It makes me ponder my view of your writing, since attitude plays a major role in perception...Eve

OMG! Attacking you - I cannot believe what I am reading - be advised - this is my last communication with you - period! I don't need to be chastised for exercising my right of speech, in simply being honest. Good bye, and good luck...Eve

This poem brings up so many childhood memories, for those of us of a certain age. The story is well told, with a great rhyming scheme and lilting tempo. Good luck in the contest... ...ec

Good job author. It reminds me so much of a poem I wrote a while back. It was chock full of similar items and gems I should say of things as they are and how they were. Very good writing, my friend and good luck in the contest. :) Bob
