Love that you brought back the meaning of 'schooners' on this one, sir -- look at you! You could write a history book for those that don't focus well: the 5-7-5 with pic for the 'intro' and then an accompanying audio of your author notes! ;) :) Thanx for sharing! ;) Yvette

    Yvette,

I was under the impression that those wagons that went west were Conestogas, which was my original text. Good that I found out differently. Maybe, our FS community would have not known the difference. LOL

THANKS for your review and stars.

I like this poem with its word imagery that is well complemented by the image you selected to go with it. It reminded me of "The grapes of wrath." Thanks for sharing.

Sadly, I could not find appropriate artwork on FanArt. I will allow your imagination to 'see' the sudden sandstorm facing the wagon train.

So, the conestoga wagons had canvas covers, just not as much canvas? That's interesting. Probably every image I have of a conestoga is actually a prairie schooner. I grew up on Wagon Train, the tv show. My family never missed. Life was more exciting in the 1800's . I don't think that my heart could have taken all that excitement.
I enjoyed this one, Mark.

    Debbie,

Wagon Train was also one of my TV favorites. In researching the Conestoga for my original text, I discovered they were not the ones traveling west. One can still learn new things. I was, however, aware of the reason for the 'prairie schooner' name.
