You're right about that. They're forever changed, never to be the same again. I love the message conveyed in this inspirationaland well written work. They need to be acknowledged as much as possible. Great job and well done!

So true, the dreadful scars of war for the older vets in particular were hidden beneath layers of hurt. Told to go home and forget it, that didn't work and still doesn't. Lovely tribute poem dragonpoet, it brings out the emotions.
cheers,

In my opinion, a striking write in evenly rendered verse and plaintively detailed course of honor and actions - well and reverently written in tribute to those to whom we express our deepest gratitude for their inspiring commitment and service...

an excellent tribute to our country's soldiers in arms -past and present. Your last line is so true, but methinks it needs a period to end it (-;
nice entry for your event!

I think this short verse is well written and carries a good patriotic message.
It also fits the "Veteran's Day" challenge nicely.
Well done.

"The Ultimate Gift", is an extremely well-written and heart-wrenching piece. The veterans gave their all, so we could live. Is there a greater gift?
To me, this is a six, but I've run out of them. It's the same with the returned servicemen in Australia. I look forward to seeing your next post.

Thanks for the honor of wanting to give it a six. I am glad you enjoyed it. Thanks again.

Joan,
I certainly enjoyed it and a true six would have been preferable.
God bless and take care,
the Duchess !(-_-)!

Nice poem, I think it flows well and has a good feel to it. I can't imagine what it's like to go through a war. It must be awful and so I admire people who have gone through it. Thanks for sharing this and have a great day

A very well-written poem and an excellent interpretation of the picture of the pix this club challenge. Their lives indeed changes and their memories are not all pleasant. It is great to see despite all the trauma he still can smile brightly.
