So true, the dreadful scars of war for the older vets in particular were hidden beneath layers of hurt. Told to go home and forget it, that didn't work and still doesn't. Lovely tribute poem dragonpoet, it brings out the emotions.

Nice poem, I think it flows well and has a good feel to it. I can't imagine what it's like to go through a war. It must be awful and so I admire people who have gone through it. Thanks for sharing this and have a great day

A very well-written poem and an excellent interpretation of the picture of the pix this club challenge. Their lives indeed changes and their memories are not all pleasant. It is great to see despite all the trauma he still can smile brightly.
