Oh, I do like this. Your root word is the logical conclusion to the train of thought the poem itself prompts. As to the poem, the format, one multi-syllable word per line, works well.

that makes sense to this reader, the artwork not so much.

In my opinion, unfortunately they fall down on the investigation part - they accept the party line. It's rather disturbing and certainly not good journalism. - and they are commentators, not reporters. that's my view.
