Why? That is such a good question and no-one has the answer, well not a feasible one. A very well written and poignant poem. Good luck in the competition. Take care. Jen.

You did a great job, JLR, with the contest prompt. The required words fit in naturally and the rhymes are an added bonus. Your story told is poignant and very believable. Thanks for sharing. Respectfully, Jan

I have known way too many people with cancer. This has caused me very great pain so I can only imagine how it must feel to be the person with the illness. I love the second line about the petals of the flower growing dry. This is a beautiful poem and yet very sad at the same time. I could almost feel his pain.

Therese, these words well from the spring of my soul, as I have lost too many friends to cancer this year, ugh.

I think your poem articulates that feeling of frustration we all feel when life seems to treat us unfairly and we ask that unanswerable question: why, God? I liked how you worked in the pain we feel, the desire for escape from it, in that urge to smoke tobacco and float off in sweet ignorance. The fact that there is no answer really captures the reality of life and the loneliness we feel as a result. estory

You did a great job with the poem using 6 different words. Your rhyming is excellent. Your poem is sad and he will never know why.
Good luck in the contest.

Well written following the prompt to use the words in the word list. You used them very well. Whatever goes on in our lives, there's always the question in the back of our minds, "Why me God?" Sometimes he gives an answer. Sometimes we may never know the reason, but it's all in his plan.
Great poem!!! Good luck with the contest!

Hello mystery writer. This poem is well-written. It is difficult to understand how the subject to this poem feels every day as he got up from bed. I can't possibly know. I have known others that have made the transition and it has been difficult to see that happen. I cannot imagine what it would be like to feel it happening. Good luck in the contest.

Hello,
What a powerful use of blending some seemingly innocent words - innocent until turned over to a master-word architect. You're sharing of emotions and events is beyond a simple Thank You. Words fail me. - Lobber
