This is a powerful poem expressing people's rights to peace and restoring
friendly relations. Both parties must compromise
You followed the form for the nonet very well.

Barbara thank you! I know I am not alone in my lament...we just have no media and no elected officials engaging with the voting public. They are off on some foreign junket or having their paid staff doing the talking.

Very well done nonet! Your opinion is shared by many. Although I am Canadian we are concerned about what happens in the U.S. We have to believe God still has his hand on your country. All the best, Laura

Laura, yes my friends north of our border are quite concerned and rightfully so. We must hope the tipping point has not yet been reached.

You may demand it, but getting it another matter. We have the same fight between the party in the UK and matters of business are ignored. This is a fine nonet, I loved the sentiments, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

A very well-written Nonet and an urgent call to the politicians to stop their BS and start working together despite their differences to find solutions to the problemz instead of creating them.

Sandra thanks for your comments. I am a true optimist and only can remain so, in spite of the all the negative brouhaha.

This nonet meets the technical requirements of that form of poetry. However, polemics, political or otherwise, should be expressed in prose, not in verse, in the view of this critic. Cf. "Common Sense" by Thomas Paine, for example.
This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

I can't imagine for the life of me, any political party, both governing or in opposition to unite in friendly relations, but anyway it would be a good example to follow, an excellent entry in this nonet contest, the right syllable count and theme, well done, blessings, Roy

Sharon, thank you, I hope and pray we can return to civility and debate in my lifetime....

Good luck with that... :( ;( This is a wonderfully written and well-intentioned offering for the contest -- love the call for all to unite -- a hopeful message indeed.
One should also consider, however, who is to do the compromising and what, of your core beliefs, would you be willing to 'give up' on in order to make that compromise if you were one of those in DC... :) :) ;)
Not an argument against it, mind you, just something that I always present to my students to answer when they want everybody to stop arguing... LOL!! ;) :) Thanx for sharing this wonderful nonet offering and good luck!! ;) :)

My friend, I would start with every elected official to take a Civics class and spend a year in debate followed a year of training on civility. Until we can get elected officials to govern they must start to talk, they do not have to agree, but they MUST learn to talk and make compromises,
-
Yes, they've taken Civics out of the high school requirements... there is no 'debate training' only presentations and they have but 1/2 year of American Government their Senior year and THAT is their entire foundation of 'constitutional knowledge' they receive before college... Again, great ideas!! ;) :)
-
My oh my, I had no idea it was this severe....I honor you for being in a profession that is so broken...
-
I teach math, so my subject matter is pretty foundational and unchanging... the others? Weeeeelllll.....

A great poem with lots of meaning to it. I agree they need to get back to behaving like adults instead of spoiled brats! We won't ever know how good of a president Trump has been because they haven't let him do anything.

Patty, you nailed it! No civility, no debate, no compromise, it is shameful!

I'm anxious to see what happens this next election. what if we don't like that one. Do we get to treat him like dirt on him? No, we have too much class to stoop thst low!
