Very nice ode to purple, Yvonne. It is a colour or royalty and signifies compassion, faith and promise.
An excellent testimony to your faith and a pleasure to review. :)

This free verse, What Purple Means to Me, finds the blue-red colo4 tightly wrapped in the story of Jesus from head to toe. This association deems royalty and respect are obligatory.

This colour, like black was a colour of mournin. In the days of horse-drawn hearses, it was quite common for the horses to be caparisoned in purple with purple plumes on their heads. I wonder where that tradition came from.
This poem concentrates on the religious significance of the colour purple, which is clearly its most important aspect as far as you are concerned.

Thank you, Jim. After I read Lyenochka's poem telling us that all those shells had to be crush for one ounce of dye, I was really impressed.

A very well-written free verse poem about what purple means to you. Purple is a unique color and its meaning is powerful and majestic. We can only be thankful for the color purple.

Rather like an ode to purple, and with some meanings that are good to review. I have been thinking lately that purple is a color suggesting compassion, too, so how interesting to correlate that to some Christian meanings as well. Nice post!

An interesting free verse on what the colour purple means to you. I didn't realise it had so much religious meaning, I've mainly heard people here saying it's a colour worn by all the oldies.
cheers,
valda

Well, that, too. It used to be that widows would go from black to purple, and old ladies, too.

Hello Yvonne. Your poem is very meaningful in the descriptions of the symbolism of purple in the Christian faith. It's a well written free verse poem. Robert

Ah, I forgot about the Lenten season! What a great thing to focus on in your poem about purple! I love that you weave together the purple in the Advent wreath, the purple of Lent and conclude with the "fact of the Resurrection!"

Thank you. I'm still reeling having to crush all those shells that you told us about!

Hello Yvonne. I enjoyed reading your free verse about purple. You used several really good examples. I would mention that the use of the word color/colors within the first stanza does not flow too well. Just my opinion. A great read.

You did an excellent job with heartfelt words to describe what purple means to you, Yvonne. Readers can easily feel your love of its significance in your life. As I read, I saw scattered alliteration of 'c' 'p' and 'l' for example. Your lines are formatted in a way that is amazing.
The color scheme and image are beautiful. Respectfully with Love, Jan
