How sweet. We see our grandchildren hanging onto their bears for ever so long and we don't realize the comfort that one can obtain when hugging something called a Burden Bear. That is such a great idea.
The poem is well done and flows in a lilting manner with mixed rhyming.
Good picture.

Hello new friend! Greetings from Australia. Do you get called 'Raffy?'
Thanks so much for reading, it's only three weeks since my partner died. The Bear does help. Bless you, Kay.

This bear has been loved - freed of his hair - just like my "Dickey" bear which I've had since I was about 7. I love the idea of this being a "burden bear" - for those who are hurting. Nice poem.

Your sweetly symbolic story of the "burden bear" is skillfully-told, powerful, and delightful. The stanza with the "patchwork quilt" simile
especially stands out.

A Very well-written love poem. There are many ways to show love to others around us especially when someone lose a life partner they will appreciate a little cuddly bear to hold onto for a while.y

Hi Sandra, So nice to hear from you. Yes, I'm a bit lost at present. Bear is helpful. We have all had one from childhood; this was special and I wanted to share with others over loss. Bless you, Kace.
Comment from Gloria ....
Aw, such a beautiful poem about a gift from grandmother, a burden bear. I hope that you having just lost your partner of thirty years will find some measure of comfort in the gift you are sharing with others.
Hugs to you, Kace. You are truly a woman of grace and sincere generosity.
I wish you much luck with the Contest Committee in what I see as a sincere, straight from the heart poem of true love. :)

Hello my dear friend, Thank you for your kind words. I didn't think I would write (funeral this week) but da bear thought otherwise. Much love, Kace.

Hi Kace. Well written. A nice poem. Again, I'm so sorry for the loss of your partner. Another friend just lost hers also. A tough thing. My husband passed almost two years ago. I joined a grief group. I do have a teddy bear, though, and have two live comfort animals--my kitty and my dog. Hugs, Marilyn

What a lovely gift. My favorite bear is the last present my daughter gave me before her death. It's in tatters now, but I'm so glad to have it! May you receive comfort in this time of loss.

What s lovely thought to have a burden bear to help you get through a tough time. Our church used to make lap quilts they called comfort quilts, to give people who lost a loved one. I like the bear better.
