June, This is a very cute and well written Ottava Rima poem you have penned for the rhyming poem contest. You used very good descriptive words about the giraffes in the garden and the art work you chose was adorable and went well with your words. Best wishes in the contest. love and blessings, Teri

Thank you for your kind words.

This well-written, creative piece uses vivid, specific details and a bit of whimsy to send a message about sticking to a diet--something I have never been good at.

Although it did sound as if you were defending eating two slices of bacon? I just nibbled at the ends of bacon that my husband just cooked (bless him) - it always smells so good.
Cute poem - and yes, diets are only good for a few days? Altho I have dieted longer.

Ha, this is brilliant, June and I don't believe I've ever heard of a giraffe in the garden, but hence to forward I shall be keeping a look out just in case.
The metre is purely a delight to read because it lends to surprises which are always a treat (not outside the diet treats) to consume.
Superb job with this and best of luck to you with the Contest Committee. :)

This Ottava Rima, Giraffes in My Garden, has the proper formatting and takes a fun look at balancing our need to monitor our diets and the difficulty involved. Funny.

Oh, you'll get caught alright...but the one that catches me are the little baboons in the closet laughing at me as I step on the scale...LOL! ;) :) This is such a wonderful offering for the contest, June -- and although I am unfamiliar with the form, your words just transport the reader into your 'backyard imagination' such that I could almost imagine one looking in my second story window from his place among the azalea bushes! :) Thanx for sharing and best of luck in the contest! ;) Yvette

This is an excellent Ottava rima, June I've written at least one of these, I never remember what I write, but fossicking through my past poems o discovered one. (I never really remember what I write, so my favourite poem is the present one, hee hee) this is beautifully composed and deftly written and composed, the rhyming is effortless and an au faitness, well done blessings. A very well-written rhyming poem about the difficult time we have to diet but there are so many feasts with great and our favourite foods we cannot resist to taste and eat to forget the diet food.

Rhyming poetry how novel, I think the bacon was giving you guilt daydreams. Everyone knows it not giraffes in gardens but Hippos.

Very artful type poem. I like it. I found it to be a very entertaining poem and in such sync with your well-chosen art. Your wording is very composite and yet I didn't realize we are talking a dream because of your slipping off your diet. Whether I'm right or wrong, it's a good read.
