Very interesting poem. You are right about every point. Sometimes in challenges many people in a community do nothing but others do help. I found your poem beautiful and the image and the presentation uplifting. Blessings. ~Brenda

Thank you, Brenda, for your perspective on people in a community. I agree some do nothing, but, they are complicit in letting the ones who help. I appreciate your kind words. Have a nice upcoming week.

I would qualify your statements with "some"--as in "some people help each other"--and "some people find someone else to blame"--and "some angry people create random acts of violence"--and maybe change to "All people could rise together to create change."--Ending with "WE" can pull together as a team. I understand and respect this is your poem...but by not qualifying "some" you seem to infer "all"--and if you mean to assign these behaviors to "ALL"--you are indeed stopping conversation in its tracks by stating a conclusion (taking a side) rather than presenting your hypothesis... In my opinion LESS assumptions and more open dialogue would move us forward. Just my take on this one--Karenina

Very nicely done. Your words ring true, especially in the times we are now in. I've not quite figured out how we think we gain when we blame others for our misfortune. Yet, there is hope when we decide to do exactly what you say in the last two verses. Let's raise a glass to coming together and speaking the truth. Your note after the poem rings true to me. A conversation is both speaking, but more importantly both sides listening. Thanks for sharing your words and thoughts. Go well.

Thank you, David. I love your insightful comments. They also ring true to me. I see hope helping us in the present and in our future. I am glad you liked the last two verses, and the note I wrote below the piece. Your comments are thorough and thoughtful. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Have a good day.

You did a great job, Jesse, with your poem. Your words are well-chosen, and you expressed your thoughts/feelings well. I agree with you about how people act and react. It is sad to think that it takes something like a natural disaster to bring people together. If they could work together then, why not earlier? Because many hear only what they wish and take offense without discussing the whole problem. Thanks for sharing. Respectfully, Jan

Thank you very much, Jan, for this exceptional rating, and insightful comments. You speak highly of my work and I thank you kindly. I agree that it is sad that a natural disaster has to happen to bring people together. You use words like discussion and working together, and I know that needs to happen. There is a lot of anger and stubbornness on many sides of many issues. I believe that we need to find common ground to perhaps, compromise with each other. Thank you for letting me share my opinion. I am glad you shared yours. Have a great Sunday.

Wow... a whole lotta statement there, Jesse: yes, the harder the times, the harder the people and the harder they push against one another. To pull together is the answer, but that would mean meeting neighbors 'halfway' and there are far too many people that are unwilling to do that... and I really just don't understand it. Sigh. A beautiful offering and wonderful wish for folks to step halfway! :) Thanx for sharing! ;) Yvette

    Hi Yvette.
I like your view of our situation, and the idea of our meeting halfway, is a great way, of looking at it. It is my wish and my hope that, when the chips are down, we will pull together, instead of apart. I appreciate your insights and thank you for your valuable review. Have a great weekend.

A very well-written poem about the value of two way communication and a willingness to solve problems instead of standing against possible solutions but has no better solution.

Thank you, Sandra, for your excellent 'take' on the situation we find ourselves in. Solve, instead of standing against and in the way. I love that suggestion and idea. Willingness is the key. Stubbornness gets us nowhere. Thank you for your kind words. Have a great weekend.

An honest conversation would be great - but we seem to be beyond that. The squabbles that are happening in the capitol are astounding - our congress persons do not seem to even care about the people any longer. What's going on.
Your poem makes some good points. We can write to our congress persons - and pray - pray - and then pray some more.

Thank you, Gail, for your candid comments on our congress. I feel the change needs to come from ordinary people. We elect who is in congress. An election is coming soon. We can use our power to help change what's going on. Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox and let you know that I value your opinion. Thank you for your kind words. Have a good weekend.

This is well penned and a thought provoking mirror for the reader to hold up to their own face. You express human nature's reaction to adversity beautifully as rather than taking accountability, it is always easier to place blame elsewhere. Communication with each other is important to gain full understanding, but conversation with God is crucial to rising above our personal dilemmas. Well done and thank you very much for sharing it.

Hello Jesse,

Your words carry a great deal of weight. If only, as you said, we could all pull together as a team to make the necessary changes where they are needed would be a wonderful thing.

I think that America is experiencing some of the most corrupt and sinister events right now, that I've seen in my 74 years here. They're coming from the average citizen all the way up to our elected officials.

I wish a copy of your poem could be stuck on every refrigerator across America and around the world. And, to live our lives just as you have written.

I hope and pray that one day soon your words will come true Jesse.

Have a great weekend, my friend...Bill

Wow. Thank you, Bill, for your terrific insights into what our country is experiencing, and what you'd like to see happen. I'd love to have that kind of impact with my poem. That would be great. I believe it is possible, for us to compromise and come together as a team. I hope so for all our sakes. My friend, Thank you kindly for the exceptional rating of this piece. You have made my day special.
Let's, both of us, have a great weekend.
    Take care, Jesse

They can pull together as a team
when people mean what they say
and say what they mean

Wow you hit each one on the head, perfectly done and loved the transformation of each stage.
