This piece is very well-written--vividly descriptive and moving. Your sustained use of parallel statements is impressive, creating a revealing,
inclusive set of characteristics.

This one-hundred-fifty-word story, A Life of Contrasts, has the proper word count and finds a life that seeks and finds fulfillment in all aspects. The ups and downs are the only road we can travel. Neat encapsulation.

Thanks for your review. Some roads are more hilly than others, but you get good scenery on the summit, eventually.

I like your entry for the Your Life in 150 Words contest.
You tell of your hardships, accomplishments, and joys very well in this short piece.
Good luck to you with the contest.

How admirable that you kept and continue to keep such a positive attitude in your life and that you found such a meaningful way to fulfill your dream of being a hero.

Thanks for your review, Susan. I had that recurring little winged hero dream quite often. It almost was like a serial - I remember different 'episodes' where I rescued someone or an animal. In one episode I got injured and was put in an ambulance, but I came to and flew out the back doors. It is still quite vivid, 60 years later.

I enjoyed your journey through life and you found yourself and a career you enjoy. Your battle is now behind you, I admire you for nursing your father through Alzheimers, that is not an easy task, I think you fulfilled your dream of being a winged hero, I enjoyed your story, love Dolly x

My sons are adopted as well. You've led a busy life, I see! You've done a lot of selfless volunteer to help others and took care of your dad during his illness. You seem to have a big heart and that's a virtue!
Good luck with the contest!

You have a big heart too, Patty. I reckon adopting kids is an act of major selflessness.

Thank you so much for sharing your life with us. I was engaged with every word of your story. At an early age, you seem to take responsibility for your future. You accept what fate has handed you and make the most of it.
My prayers are with you as you care for your father. I hope that some day you can return to your dreams and travel. I take care of my mother, who has lived with us for a year and a half now. It is hard, but I could not live with myself if I did not accept this mantle of responsibility.
Once again, I enjoyed getting to know you and will check out your identity later. Best wishes.

    Hi Debbie
You obviously have a similar sense of care for your mother that I had for my father (he died some years ago... I looked after him for 5 years). If asked to name an achievement I am proud of, that would be one.
Thanks for your review comments, and sharing something of your own life.

An authentic, honest, self analysis of life as it came, how one waddles through life and uses talents Tharp come the depths of the soul even with the emotional scars. Thank you for this honesty, you, of course, are a survivor. Write on and write often.
