Thanks for sharing with this post, Pamela! Enjoyed your cute painting of the whitetail deer - we are overrun with them but I wouldn't want them hunted. So glad you're painting and writing! Will say a prayer for your neck surgery! Hugs!

Love your painting, Pam. Those deer are watching me so I won't be taking any shots at anyone. So cute and a fine tanka to go along with it.

It's always great to hear from you with such original work. :)

This was well written rich in Theme and Imagery.
It read well and Flowed well with no Grammar Issues as well.
...
Adjective and Objective Contents were both Excellent and Exceptional while Descriptive Measures aligned Perfectly.

You know, I forgot that you frequently do your own artwork. That is so awesome. This painting of innocent deer really touches me. They look so gentle and helpless.
Thanks for defending the deer. I have written at least four poems about deer. They don't deserve to be killed and hung on someone's wall with glass eyes.
Well done.

This is a lovely little poem. Your words are well chosen and the message is clear, if somewhat regrettable. The picture complements the work very nicely. Thanks for sharing.

It is clever to use a tanka this well as an ekphrastic poem...and I like the artwork, too.

Your comments speak about you upcoming surgery. (A good friend's husband is going through the same thing...except in an opposite way because he had neck surgery first over a month ago, and last week they fused four of his lower back vertebrae. He went home yesterday and is doing very well.) I wish the same for you, my friend. You are in my prayers. xoxo

Pam, This is a very well written and sweet tanka poem you have penned about the mighty bucks. You used very good descriptive words and very lovely imagery by your painting. I enjoyed reading and reviewing this.

You are in my prayers my friend! love and blessings, Teri

While I understand some degree of hunting is beneficial for the species because in an overpopulated area, many deer will just starve to death. The meat is edible. So much for that. But this whole idea of mounting the head with the glass eyes, I just don't understand why anyone would want dead meat hanging in their home. Good points you make (No pun intended ; ),

Hi Pam. I was thinking of you today and your terrific art work and here you are posting a poem and your painting. I love it. You've picked a topic that resonates with me and that is hunting for "sport," saving the head, mount it on the wall with glass eyes staring blankly. Marilyn
