This is definitely a strong horror poem for the contest. That picture is perfectly gruesome. I would hate to run into something like that..even if I was seeing it from a distance!

Where in the Great Lakes? I'm from northern Illinois. Migrated to Florida six years ago. Ain't never going back. lol
-
Almost state line with Michigan about 1 hour east of Chicago in Indiana! Where in No. Illinois? I?d be out of here too if I didn?t have so many children grandchildren and great grandchildren! Ha!
-
Wisconsin state line about an hour north of Chicago. It was hard to leave the kids and grandkids but trust me, you get over it. I visit and text enough not to feel guilty. LOL! Plus they come down here as well. Great grandchildren? Wow!!
-
hahaha!! hmmm... well, i don't retire for a while, but maybe i'll have to make a trip to FL. My twin grandkids liver near Ft Myers area. Just hard to get a break to go there and their momma is a little distant. We just got our first visit 2 months ago after 2 years. She has issue with my son and takes it out on all of us sadly.

I have twin 14-year old granddaughters. They are fun.
-
Love them twins :)

Hello Diana. That's a mighty ugly looking thing that looks like half dear, half goat. I've never heard of that thing and I hope I never see the picture again either. It's a nasty looking little bugger. You did a great job telling that story in 13 words. The story is very well done. Good luck in the contest. Robert

You are certainly a woman of contrasts, Diana! Nice romantic poetry with peace and light one minute, and the next you are releasing evil bloodthirsty voracious critters onto us! I'm all right with the sounds - they weren't particularly frightening, but that image is ghastly.

LoL! You know I live in the Great Lakes area so I stay indoors a lot!! Something about Dean Kuch that drew me in to this genre and opened up another part of my imagination! Glad you got past the pic and read the poem! xoxo

Dean was a special guy - I read everything he wrote too. Just for balance to the dark and the light, and to scare myself a bit.
-
He certainly was xoxo

I like this. It's a good entry for the contest. Perhaps nothing can tap into human nightmares more than the thought of being eaten alive.
Your presentation uses the classic colors of horror -- black and red {smiles}.
Thank you for the author notes. I've never heard of Wendigos before, but your notes makes everything clear {thumbs up}.
Wishing you the best of luck with the contest judging committee {smiles}.

Oh my! And I thought "wendigo" sounded like a beautiful color - like the indigo of the rainbow mixing with the color of wind! But your monster is quite the scary thing with eating on its mind (devour, consuming)! Best wishes in the contest!

Scary definition in a quatrain, rhymed. I was also looking up original monster names today for a decorating theme. Had not arrived at this one, though. Sounds particularly gruesome if humans are on the menu! Timely read for this time of year.
