Truth speaks eloquently. In life, few good things happen by chance. Most desirable things come about as a result of preparation. As a matter of fact, if something truly wonderful happens to you and you are not prepared to deal with it, guess what? You may very well lose it all as a result of your not being prepared to deal with good fortune. Do I need to say more about the importance of preparation?

This free verse poem reflecting on what competition is and signifies includes some 'd' consonance in 'good,' 'stand,' 'ground,' I see some long 'e' assonance in end words 'peak,' 'compete,' 'field' and 'mind.' I think it is a good entry for the contest. I would add an apostrophe to make it: coaches' glare and later on: the competitors' stare
