What a fine free verse dedication to fire this is. Sadly the fire goes out, but not before creating a lot of great images and memories.
So great you are keeping this club fiery, alive and most enjoyable. :)

I'm so happy you're enjoying it. As you know, I sort of fell into it, and I certainly want to do justice to Michael's 'baby.'

My pleasure!

Sad to see a candle come to its end. We don't burn candles - guess I have a fear of fire - that I might not blow it out at night. But they do make such a nice glow in the house. Good job.

I love candles. They're so soothing. Thanks for reviewing.

This is a beautiful poem for fire. I love how well you have captured the fleeting nature of fire's energy and left the wax as a token to what once was.

You did a great job with your free verse on fire, Yvonne. I enjoyed reading it. I read instances of alliteration, assonance, consonance, and great imagery creating words. Your color scheme and image work perfectly with you well-chosen words. Thanks for sharing. Respectfully with Love, Jan

And I can see the candle in your poem's shape! I like the message of the ephemeral nature of the candle which is like our own lives. Really well done free verse, Yvonne! Thank you for leading this club!

Thank you for this wonderful review, and for participating. I appreciate the support.

How observant you are. I must admit the shape of the poem was pure coincidence. Thanks you for pointing that out!
Comment from Jeffrey L. Michaux
It only takes a small flame to illuminate a room. It is amazing the many shadows that the flicker of a candle will cast. The beeswax that's left behind is kind of like ashes from a fire I guess. I like this Damommy and enjoyed reading this well written work. Well done!

-Very nice image
and presentation.
-I like your approach
to the topic, and
the imagery is effective.
-You do a good job
describing the progress
of the candle flame.
-It "reaches out" in the beginning,
then "struggles to live," and
finally there are only "opaque
drops of beeswax" left..
-I enjoyed this poem.

You are very welcome.

I guess this poem definitely goes to show how ephemeral a small beeswax candle is once lit. I get some good consonance with 'within' and 'sustain.' I get some long 'o' assonance with 'shadows' and 'show.' Nice post!
