Melissa,

Oooohh... I really, really, REALLY like this one. Your wording is so unique and vivid. The idea of autumn in petticoats sashaying through the woodlands is lovely beyond measure.

The only thing is the word 'nippy'. In this really lovely poem, that word seems out of place. Is there something else you might consider? Just wondering...

Loved it! Thank you!

Thanks Robyn... I will look at it again and see if I can replace it with a word that blends better. Thanks for the suggestion!!!

A splendid piece of personification here in this short, five line piece. This is a good example of why not every five line, under 31 syllable, poems is a tanka. This is a simple and very appropriate statement on autumn without the surprises and incate regulations of the Japanese form.

Thanks Jim... It is 46 degrees here and the first true day of autumn weather... it moved in last night... So, I am on the bandwagon to celebrate this change of seasons.

Don't mention it, Melissa. It is more than nippy here. Snow is in the air. Just flurries though.

This is beautiful. The use of the words rustles and sashay are perfect to describe this weather.
Lovely picture.

Hello there, kah. Thanks for your lovely comments. I do think the leaves sound like petticoats... those stiff crinoline kind. Haha. :)

Oh, I do like this. I think it's the "petticoats sashay to the
rhythm of nippy breezes" that captures my attention. It conjures up the visuals. I can see in my mind's eye the movement of the Autumn leaves {smiles}.

Thank you for the enjoyable read {thumbs up}.

Hi Alex!! I am really glad that you like it. I do think that when the breeze blows through dry leaves they sound like petticoats. Just a whimsy of mine ;)

I really like the image of Autumn's petticoats sashaying. They really did that here today, and the breezes were nippy. Great presentation and imagery.
