Great use of detail to build ambience. It's easy to identify with Jessica's paranoia in the hospital.
Your tale continues at a rattling pace.
A couple of minor suggestions:
Bloodcurdling evil(ness) oozes into the darkened room.
Jessica pulls the covers over her head(,) leaving just enough open to see.
