I would say letters are always a helpful way to show events and feelings and document dates of when those events happen. It sounds like Cathy is fighting extreme depression. I was a little bit confused by the change in font color in the inclusion of the story deer hunting, but perhaps that was unintentional. Interesting slice-of-life details for life back in 1964. Hope Cathy pulls through.

I would say letters are always a helpful way to show events and feelings and document dates of when those events happen. It sounds like Cathy is fighting extreme depression. Your story is so meaningful because it talks about the military, love, and mental health. How many times a person needs to talk to someone if they are lonely. The best place to be if they are in need of special care.

This forced separation has caused a bit of an emotional roller coaster. A good thing that there's some family support. These things are always more difficult to face alone. The positive tone of Bill's letters must have been a real tonic.
