This is terribly sad. Definitely made me feel the pain and desperation of seeing a loved on slip away. The loneliness you feel when they're gone. I also like the glimmer of hope. I hope it's true. I hope we do get to see them again.

This is deceptively simple and lyrical. I like the way you managed to mention God two times and the Lord once, turning this into both a love-based and faith-based poem at the same time as addressing the theme of sadness. I also like the suggestion or declaration of life after life, with the line "She comes to me/In my dreams at night." Tender entry.

This is a wonderfully penned offering for the contest, Willie -- your choice of such short lines with deep-emotional imagery stoke feelings in your reader to 'be' where your heart is... great job!! ;) Best of luck to you at the polls! ;) Yvette

It is a very sad day! When you have spent 60 years in the company of someone you love dearly, it is wrenching when you lose them. Your poem rings with love and loss. It resonates with me as I too have my lost love in my dreams.
