You echoed my belief in the After-Life here in your words, although we do not like to contemplate too much on passing from one energy state to another. There has always been ample evidence of the eternal life of the Soul, which is an extension of God, but because of our maculate birth and lifetime here on earth, we all have that little nagging doubt.
To have the chance to live another lifetime while harboring the lessons learned in this life would be sublime and allow our souls to advance rapidly toward the Grace required to live in the presence of God, or even be promoted to a position of importance in the Realm of Heaven.
However, we evidently pass through a Curtain of Forgetfulness somewhere on our journey back to earth, and are thus left to our own devices, in spite of knowing the difference between Right and Wrong.
You have an excellent perspective on the rhyme and reason for our existence, something 90% of the Human Race never recognizes.
And it is true, "The simplest things in Life are indeed, the most complicated." Someone no doubt said that before, but worth repeating.

You chose a powerful picture. This is another universal poem. Who of us does not wonder about when, how, and if they will fly free. Fewer can really let go of the staid concept of sitting around in some special chair for all of eternity, whatever that may mean. We would rather think of ourselves arcing out for some new adventure learning to make people's lives better and bringing happiness to those open to receive it. Very nicely written.

We all become 'ashes to ashes, dust to dust', and who knows where we end up. In the late Autumn of my life, I have now seen cremation as a great way to be set free as ashes. Someday, somewhere. Your poetry today touched my heart and soul. My favorite parts

"fragrant summer rose
decays into tones of earth
an endless cycle

I, much like the rose
will also return to her;
my spirit will be

when that time arrives
I will gain understanding
flying free again

Hi Darren! Good to see you back and thank you for sharing your autumn thoughts with haiku and a lanturne, too! I like how you embrace the time of decay from the time of fragrant bloom to releasing to the next phase. I like the "then" ending best.

    near Helen, thank you so much for your warm comments and I'm glad you read these in order in which they were red as it was kind of a Prelude. I really appreciate your comments your help with my errors and your continued support here means the world to me.

    thank you so much Debbie for your wonderful comments and help with the ending. It always seems I'm in too much of a hurry to proofread my note so I'm so thankful to have yours like you clean out the error so I can fix them which I have done. Thanks again, and may you also be richly blessed.
