"You can let her out now." ??? The red was attacking the pink, but the pink has no fear of the red. Interesting. I wonder what their relationship is. Is the pink one in charge of the red? That might explain why the red tried to keep it from hatching.

I'm sure I'll lose track of the dragons, but seeing them one at time is fun.

The red one didn't want the pink one to hatch. Now that she has, she can take care of herself. Pink is the queen. Red will just have to deal with it.

Don't stop there! This is developing into an enchanting story. If I picked this one up at a bookshop I'd have my nose in it until finished. It's heads and shoulders over a lot of the ones I edit for clients in my day job.

Thanks! I'm working on developing the story rather than creating an inventory of dragons. Of course, some interesting creatures have yet to hatch. Hope I can publish it when it's done.

I was glad to see that you glossed over time advancing slowly, providing some welcome change of pace. The number of story lines is increasing nicely now.

So we have two baby boys and two baby girls. The pink lady might be able to ground the red, fiercely brat:) I think they are part of the guardians that the witch was talking or as you said yourself :"You can't save him, or his greedy daughter, but the forest and mountains beyond must survive, and so must their guardians."
Thank you for sharing, and I must admit so far your story is very cursive and the plot grows strongly with each chapter. My favorite is the water dragon.
