How sad. Unfortunately we see (or hear of) too much domestic violence. I agree with this piece that it's often the violence that doesn't leave physical scars that hurts the most, but the wife often needs one (or sometimes many more) slaps before reacting. What can anyone do about this?

Great job telling this sad story with a series of letters. Unfortunately, too many women put up with this kind of abuse for too long and as you show, it's not just the physical kind but that of control.

Wendy, is an abused woman, Sid, is an abuser that will not stop because of a letter. He will continue to track her until on or the other is dead or in prison.

This is a poignant writing revealing what a lot of women are going through who have not yet found the ability to leave the negative situation they are in. Thankfully, Wendy was able to move out with her child and start a new life. There are many organizations that will help her along the way to a better life. I think you have done a great service posting this. xoxo

A series of letters that reveals an ever increasing downtrend in a relationship, that quite frankly is a warning sigma that. things could get much worse. A unhappy relationship can make feel trapped in a relationship. Beautifully written Maria, well done, blessings, Roy

This is very well written, my friend. Sometimes one partner feel so controlling they prevent the other from having relationships. Kids get dirty and wives should be able to have a life~Debbie

Hello Maria. It is an interesting technique of telling a story through a progression of letters. (should I say "epistolary")? Good story. I liked it nad found it interesting. Robert

MJ,
Why do you think it takes so long for some ladies to wise up??
They take and take and take -- allowing their self-esteem to grow smaller and weaker. Until, hopefully, something finally wakes them up.
In this case, when the abuse was directed at the child, the last came to her senses. Thank heavens.
Nice story. Nice format.
Thank you!

These are wonderfully written letters that she should have given to him, but what would have it cost her. Many women are trapped in a fearful relationship, and that's why we need to keeping writing stories like this one. Great job!
Have a great day and God bless.

I wonder if you've opened up a flood gate of spousal abuse! The story is so common. As far as literary work, your story is very well written. For the theme, the readers must feel compassion . However, there are those who can't empathize, and others who don't understand why you took so long to leave..hugs, Trisha
