Wow! Awesome story. Perfect meter and rhyme. Overall, grrreat job! Good luck... looks like a winner to me. Must have taken you a while to achieve such perfection, and the idea is exciting too.

Good to see you again. :)

Thanks so very much, Phyllis, for all those stars! I haven't written a poem in yonks, and here I am, nose and eyes streaming, head thumping, and throat like sandpaper and a poem is born! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm struggling at the moment to write much at all. But I think I'll stick to poetry for a short while. I've just seen you have a story on here, I'll go and read it. Thanks, my friend, lovely to see you on here, too. :)) Sandra xx

I really enjoyed your story within the poem, it was very entertaining to read. I am on a train right now, so it seems fitting that I read and review it haha!

This poem is an excellent contest entry. From the picture to the story, everything works well together. The rhyme scheme lends an upbeat lilt to the poem and the reader knows it will all work out in the end.

A harrowing tale of bravery, all told in neat, tight rhyme.
Just the kind of story to get my heart a-pumpin'.
I've always been fond of trains, Sandra--steam locomotives in particular.
They played such a role in the expansion of my country.
Extremely well done, Sandra. Best of luck.

Peace, Lee

I used to go train-spotting with my brother, much to Mum's annoyance. We would always come home black from the sooty steam, but that was half the fun! Thank you so much, Lee, for the lovely six stars and kind review. I haven't written any poetry for a long time, and I've decided to get back into it. Your words are an added encouragement. Sending you a big hug. :)) Sandra xxx

Loved, loved, loved this!
I was completely transported to that train track and couldn't wait to find out what happened. Not sure if this is a true story but it felt like one. This is such a great tale with perfect rhyme, it's a winner in my eyes : )
