Holy cow, another Limerick, ha, ha, ha it is very funny indeed for Belle to eat the prize-winning kale. I hate kale as it gives me bellyache! So I support Belle for eating that kale.

You are right to keep "the" in the last line, despite some reviewers' urges to change it to "his" (admittedly funnier) because the judge would have had to recuse himself (or herself) from the case if he (or she) had owned the kale.
Well done, and aptly illustrated in keeping with the humorous theme.

Yet, you have to write with the flair on the nasty side and you don't have that in you. :( The last line... you could have used "his" instead of the. Come on Miss Goody-Two shoes, I know you can do it. Get down and not too dirty. :) (If you can)

I?m not sure what you mean by Miss Goody-Two shoes but please know I?ll never get down and dirty, it?s a Limerick for Pete?s sake. My grandkids are my fans too, and I keep most of my writing for them and all ages to enjoy.

What a fun little limerick. I like the line "up hill and down dale." I just have to wonder what prize-winning kale tastes like. Actually, I can hardly fault Belle. Kale seems more like a fodder crop to me than something humans are supposed to eat.

I think the cows wouldn't be as much of a problem as goats and pigs. I think one of the salmonella outbreaks on romaine lettuce was due to pigs wandering into the fields.
