This is really pretty funny. The picture of the guillotine, the sombre tone, and then the final line... Brilliant. You have quite the imagination.

CIAO POET: There is a bunch of ways that a guy can lose his head. The people's axe way...what a gory story. Or a guy can be crazy about his girlfriend. That'll drive him out of his head. That guy will be like a praying mantis...and let his girlfriend eat his head off. I'd prefer to be like him. SO...whenever my girlfriend gets ready....just come to me. She'll get ahead. The guillotine a dark reminder of times where you were persecuted for your religion or your political beliefs. Your poem describes very well that feeling :"Crowds laugh their heads off." Thank you for sharing and good luck withe the contest.

I was trying to point out how the victim literally lost his/her head while the public was " laughing their heads off " which means a different thing.
They were ugly times ..when people are treated just like animals when they rebel the epilogue can only be bloody.
I added a video just to show how gruesome the execution and the behaviour of the people were.

For the poor it was entertainment...to see the rich pay was a delight and a daily event during the French revolution.
The ground was at times of soaked in blood that there was fear of diseases spreading.
Oringinally, the giullotine was designed to give criminals a more humane end but the device became the symbol of the revolution ..the Revolution of Terror under Robespierre.
