Love the artwork, and that is a powerful statement. This is a poem about regret for not fighting harder for your love. When redouble arose, they decided to get out of the relationship. Great last line that the couple "should have fought like hounds to keep their love sound. Some couples are like this--too quick to call it quits. Maybe it's too hard to try to work things out. Best of luck in the contest. You might take a look at your meter, because your syllable count varies from line to line. You might use a comma instead of 'n--take a toll create....judi

Most couples these days are ready to throw in the towel at the first hurdle.

Your get mothers that have two, three kids from different fathers.

I think when it came okay not to marry both sexes stopped being committed.

Let's face it men and women just go to bars to find a one night stand.... a distraction...a pass time.

I hate to think in a generation or two how relationships will be like....

Thanks for the kind review and for the suggestion... the poem had already been under the judges'' scrutiny a couple of days so I felt it was too late to edit...but I appreciate the input, Judi.

CIAO TEMPESTE: This posting coincides with Biblical scripture. Our Lord Advises us to: "Come together with me. Let us talk about such things as these. Though your ways may be wrong today...I can make things right today." Isaiah 1:18. "Happy are you whose mistakes are forgiven, whose wrongs are pardoned. Happy are His people whom the Lord does not consider guilty and in whom there is nothing false." Psalm 32:1&2. We belong together. And as far as I'm concerned we are together...and we will be together forever. Thank you for sharing. God bless you, Tempeste. Cordially: rhonnie69.

I felt myself dramatically saying," but I was willing to talk things out to work hard" This will draw a heartbroken reader to feel less isolated. This becomes a universal poem. You speak the heart pain of many. Someone once said we go through experiences in relationships to be able to know what the red flags are in our own behaviors. Then to look at the nn negotiables in the other's behavior. I have always found writing to be very healing. I hope the reader, you and I can heal a bit from reading this.

I'm not great at writing about love ; I never allowed myself to get involved...but from observing those few friends I have, I deducted certain thinks ...glad you could relate.

This is a poignant poem about two people giving up on each other. Well written and rhythmic. Your second stanza does a good job of describing what relationships are about. Also, that picture beneath your name, the dog and the cat, is priceless.

Glad my words made sense...I personally have always kept away from certain entanglements but I have had friends that have confided in me ...and this is what I leant from their trials..

I can sure relate with this poem. . .I have had those exact same thoughts but then reality hits me square between the eyes. Both people have to be willing to work at keeping the love alive. :) Nice work, good luck.

Glad you could connect to the words... love is a beautiful thing but like a rose, it does have its thorns. I never had the courage to give it a go but I have had friends that did. and my poem is based I what I learnt from them.
