A very wel-written poem about George and Mildred the colorful rainbow Lorikeets that are much smaller than the pigeons but they stand their ground against them when they want to take what is theirs.

Too cute - and you have the pictures to prove - these beautiful birds. And all we have is parakeets and nuthatches (altho I love them, no mistake) - but these are exotic birds for sure. Thanks for sharing their habits.

Hi Gail, Thank you for reading. We are fortunate to have these colourful native birds feed in our backyard. Australia has so many beautiful birds and the colours are spectacular. Blessings, Kace.

What gorgeous birds. Do fly free with the pigeons? We don't have such pretty birds in Alabama habitat.
I enjoyed getting to know the assertive George and Mildred. Good for them. They are certainly pretty fighters.
As to the rhymes, they are spot on. Dine and time are the only questionable ones, and I think they are close enough for sure.
Good luck in the competition.

Hello Debbie, Thanks so much for reading, glad you enjoyed. Yes, the Lorikeets fly free with all birds. We have some of the most beautiful native birds, other cockatoos are pretty in their pale blue and yellow feathers. Blessings, K.

That must be beautiful. I've only seen those birds in cages.

Hi Kace, this is a great entry to the contest. A well told tale of George and Mildred LOL. Love the names. There was a TV comedy where the couple had those names. Well rhymed poem in perfect abab form and the tale you tell is amusing. I enjoyed the story. Good luck in the contest. Warm regards Dorothy xx

I like the exciting manner of story telling, your delivery--the point-by-point update on the struggle for sustenance. George and Mildred make quite a tag team!

These birds can't be missed. They are the most colorful birds I have seen.
I can see why the pigeons fly awaym, the lorikeets beaks and talons look very dangerous.
Good luck. Keep writing

Thanks so much for your kind review. Birds are feisty, still will come to humans. Cheers, Kay.

This is a great example of the pecking order on a food chain! I enjoy feeding the birds and squirrels each day and it's amazing to see a robin and a mockingbird go after the same piece of apple. I enjoyed reading this very much, Kace!

This meets the contest requirements beautifully as you deliver a well penned Rhymed Poem. These birds are really stunning, it's not wonder they inspired you! The content is playful and engaging as you tell us about this lovely couple defending their feeder from all comers. Good luck in the judging and thank you very much for sharing it.
