I was severely depressed when I was young, but it was circumstantial, my first love had dumped me, and a close friend had committed suicide. I considered suicide myself, but optimism took over, and I recovered. Like serotonin aids the exerciser with feelings of well being, I think the opposite is true! I remember somebody saying, after being a manic depressive for most of their life, they decided they didn't want it anymore, and bingo, depression gone. Faith plays a big part in it. (Faith belongs to all) beautifully written, friend Alicia. Blessings, Roy

Hi Roy! I am glad that you overcame those woes. I just deal with life and go along with my everydays. That's probably like a doomsday itself. Thank you. May God bless us all. Hugs, Alicia (aka Sunnilicious)

A wonderful offering tackling the topic of depression... perhaps it would make a great conversation starter for a doctor's or therapist's office. ;) Thanx for sharing! ;)

Hi Y.M.! People on YouTube have depression: Edgy Vegan, Nikocado, Lexi Babe, Sauce Queen, Jake Paul, Eugenia Cooney (maybe just a drug problem cleaned-up), Emma Chamberlain. Brad Pitt was in the headlines too. It's not taboo talk. I can listen to you if you'd like to talk. Unless prefer the dr office. Thank you. Hugs, Alicia (aka Sunnilicious)

Hi Alicia! Good to see you back!
Your poem reads like the words of a good friend. And when Depression hits, we all need to be that good friend to ourselves and listen to the good advice that your poem lists such as remembering our worth, reaching out and finding "ways to be optimistic!"

Hi Alicia. I think depression is an ailment that plagues so many people and it's very sad. Members of my family have clinical depression and friends have situational depression. I'm grateful not to have that, but getting out with others (if able) is a good way to stay in the mainstream and fight off feeling blue. Exercise is another good thing. When those endorphins get moving, we feel better. A good write on a timely theme. Marilyn

Oh yes I've been there a few times...I had a lot of support of my friends.
You don't want to complain... but they just knew it!! I can handle it now.I can put things in perspective now to solve the problem. Nice poem and good advice Alicia, you have to learn how to handle it... Fia

Hi Fia! You're a strong dollface. I'm glad you pull through. I think most people do, but depression appears to be the talk everywhere. Complaining, nagging and yelling appears to be the norm levels of depression but that's changing because people like don't talk until they get depression. Thank you. Hugs, Alicia (aka Sunnilicious)

A very well-written free verse poem about depression that easily can overcome anyone. Many things lead to depression and if we are not pro-active and try to prevent ourselves falling into the trap we must try to look at our problems in a positive way and change every negative situation into a positive one.

Hi Dolly! Maybe, we're alone to be stronger. I can't figure some things and that can drive me (and others) up a wall. Lolz. Thank you. God bless you. Hugs, Alicia (aka Sunnilicious)
