Hello Kace, this is a really good free verse. Your personification of the fire is excellent and you pursue it throughout the poem. 'Fires crackle with such delight' - really good. Rain and Fire personified brilliantly in this poem. A good entry to the contest - Good Luck - Warm regards Dorothy xx

Hello Dorothy, Thanks for reading. Yes, we are in trouble, no rain for three months and no rain pending. Sixty fires out of control so far. I woke to a pall of smoke this morning. Praying for Spring rains. Love, Kace XX

The Hurricanes need to shift your way to give you all water to quench the fires and water the animals. So sorry this happens there with no let up.

I like your poem so much, particularly the first line. It's definitely my favorite part of your excellent poem. I also like your use of "we." It makes your poem more personal and heartfelt. I will pray for your spring rains to arrive soon. We have fires here because our summers take too much. It is hard to watch.
Good luck in the competition.

We have also had terrible fires in California (I live in New York). This is a freestyle poem that actually tells a story. The image you chose to describe it emphasizes the situation. Good luck in the voting.

Hi Susan, Thanks so much for reading. I saw the Californian bushfires on TV. Glad the hurricane was downgraded to a level 2 instead of 5.
Blessings, Kay.
