I'm so sorry to hear about your great grandson. I'm glad the poem made you laugh. That is usually my aim when writing them. You take care and I'll be praying for you. Thank you dear. Rox

Hehehehe, How naughty you are! Find a rich old man and feed him unhealthy food. What are you like!!. All that aside, I love healthy food,(always have) and you get lots of that, here in Spain. I'm lucky that I don't have sweet tooth. I loved your poem. It's well written. Ulla xx

That's probably why you look so good. Healthy food was not popular in my home. We ate mom's cooking which was much better than fast food, but my dad was a meat and potatoes man so little fruit and veggies and never a salad. But I do eat much healthier now as an adult and am working very hard on getting off some meds I'm on. Hi blood pressure. I always had low bp then one day it was high, but it's in my family. So hopefully all my work outs and better eating will pay off. But I won't hold my breath. =} The rich man is for sure plan B, as long as he sickly and doesn't have kids. =} Thank you dear. Rox

"oatmeal for breakfast salad for lunch". LOL This is exactly what my daughter eats almost every day. She did recently receive a clean bill of health from her doctor, however...who asked her what exactly has she been doing. I make her salads and try to vary it with different ingredients and salad dressings to keep it "interesting". I know... why can't the food that is good for us, taste like ice cream; It would make things so much easier :) I love it!! good job!

The hard part of eating healthy today is one day this is really good for you, eat tons. The next day is will kill you. So frustrating. But I guess you can go wrong with clean veggies and fruit. I just wish I like it better. It would be great if everything good for you tasted like ice cream. =} Thanks dear. Rox

Hey Rox, guess what?! I got 2nd place in a contest, I was unsure if I would get any votes. If I had voted for myself, I would have tied for 1st place...go figure?!
-
Hurrah! Good for you! Thats great. I tied for 1st once so had to split the prize but was still nice. Way to go girl. I never vote for myself, but maybe I should. =}

Why not? :) You are encouraged to vote in the contests you enter.

A very well-written poem about the dilemma we have when we are not very young anymore and we know that our pension will not last until the end. We have either to die early or find a rich man to care for us.

This is very funny. I love the half-rhyme in the ending words in the lines: Oatmeal for breakfast, salad for lunch,
I miss chocolate chip cookies so much!
My next favorite lines are: Don't you know sixty is the new forty?"
All I can say to that is, "Oh Lordy!"
I think you mean 'cheddar' and not 'chedder' in fifth stanza. I think this would be funny for reading at a girls' night out in a quiet restaurant.

Every time we have a huge, unexpected bill come in, as they seem to from time to time, we joke that we're going to have to die a year earlier. Thanks for a fun poem and I totally agree about healthy food not always tasting so good.

The retirement pension age here is now seventy for men (I think) and 67 fo women, however the pension is endless, (looking forward to a long retirement Rox) if you like Oreos or choc chip cookies, you would love living here, we not only have them, but a much, much broader choice of biscuits here. When we visited Rebecca in NY, we had to bring her favourite lollies (candy) and biscuits (cookies) with us. Beautifully written, in couplets, well done, blessings Roy

Some people do have pension funds, but I work for a non-profit. It is up to me how much I get in retirement by how much I save. I keep upping it as I get older. I tell the young people I work with, get the retirement plan now and starting saving. They didn't have it when I first started, but I got it as soon as it was offered and work does match part of the funds. But the Lord knows, I may have to depend on Him more than I had planned in old age. =} We get Social Security here too which helps as well and it's for life, maybe. They keep borrowing from it for other things, and with the population getting smaller, it may not last as long as we'd like. I would love to get lots of Oreos and Choc Chip cookies. But my Dr says no, no! I hate my Dr.
Thank you sir. Rox

LOL! I'd settle for the true love of a poor man. I love your poem's style and truth. I especially liked the eighth and ninth stanzas. Enjoyed reading your work, and good luck finding the rich guy! LOL!

I'd settled for the true love of a less income man, but not poor. Sorry, I'm not worrying about money all the time. Rich is optional. =} So far I've had no luck. I'm just not meeting the rich ones like I'd wish. I need a better class of friends. =} Kidding. I am quite happy single and I trust in God, not men or horses. Thank you much. Rox

LOL! Happiness is what matters most of all; so I would say you are doing great!!

I know the feeling very well. Although eating the right foods are good for the body, it doesn't stop it from wanting the bad stuff. I fight that war all the time in my mind.

We just have too many options of things not good for us. Good for us food needs to taste like peanut butter M&M's and then I'd want to eat it all the time. =} Thank so much Phillip. Rox
